THAW (The Heat And Warmth) Program

The Heat And Warmth Program provides emergency financial reflief to cover the cost of utility bill arrears in order to avoid disconnection of service. THAW is available to households once every 2 years.  Applicants must meet income criteria, have received a final or disconnection notice, have paid at least $50 in the past 4 months towards the utility and be the person named on the bill. The program starts January 2, 2009 and operates until funding is exhausted.

Winter Warmth Program

Winter Warmth provides financial assistance of up to $450 to Middlesex County residents for Union Gas arrears. Winter Warmth operates beginning December 1, until May 2009. For more information contact Housing Support Services at 519-661-0343 Ext.300. Applications are completed by appointment only.

Rent Bank

The Rent Bank provides an interest-free loan to assist tenants to maintain safe, affordable housing and avoid eviction. Applicants must meet income criteria and have an ongoing source of income which is not Ontario Works or Ontario Disability Support Program; must be in the process of eviction (in receipt of an N4 or L1) and the housing must be sustainable and protected under the Residential Tenancy Act.

All loans are repaid through a preauthorized payment plan negotiated upon approval of the loan.

The H.O.M.E.S. Program
The Housing Outreach for Maintenance, Education and Stability Program

The H.O.M.E.S. Program is a 6-8 week life skills program, intended for individuals and families who may have barriers or issues related to obtaining or maintaining housing, or would like to learn more about resources the community offers in relation to rental housing.

Workshop topics include:

The program is offered in partnership with over 10 community agencies in London. Individuals who participate in the program receive take-home kits, as well as a certificate of completion to present to potential landlords. Sessions are held in various locations throughout the city. This program is funded by Citigroup.

Water Filter Fund

You may be eligible for up to $100.00 to purchase an on-tap water filter system and replacement cartridges that will remove lead content from your drinking water.
